Hey guys probably know we were invited to do the photoshoot sets for Otaku this year. Since we worked it and walked around attended it we thought we would give a little insight to the Convention.
This was a 2.0 version of a previous con they put on and i will say it was definitely upgraded.
I will start with the not so good
There was no food trucks or anything for the sort so food was hard to get to and you had to leave and or door dash to get food or if you stayed at the hotel you could bring your own food.
There was the parking that a lot of people did not like. They were charged 12 dollars every time they left the parking garage and came back. I am unsure of how it worked for people staying at the convention.
The hotel rooms had no ac ( some of them ) they were broken and never got them fixed all weekend or moved to another room so it was hot for a lot of people.
Now for the good
The programming was great and had a lot of variety. Feed back on that was pretty good to say the least. There were a lot of panels and workshops to attend. They a lot of good shows like the burlesque and the cosplay contest. They also had a rave as well.
There were mixed reviews about the Oasis Lounge. Some people said they wasted their money there wasn't anything special about it. Some people said it was a whole lot of fun and they enjoyed it very much. We went in and it looked like people were having fun.
The convention, we were told and observed, was a lot like the old school conventions. Bringing back cringe and it's ok, lobby cons , fun vendors and a lot of hanging out. They felt it was nostalgic and fun. We didn't get out there much since we were in the photoset room but when we did get out . We did see alot of people having fun and laughing. Especially at the meet ups.
The guests were fun and people enjoyed them accept for a few rotten apples from the 18 plus room. ( so we heard but we won't name drop but we also witnessed the bad apple being absolutely rude )
Anyways, the overall about this convention is that it is a nice chill con that comes alive at night. It brings nostalgia and a certain old school charisma back that people really seem to enjoy. We definitely had fun as well.
